Historic Alpine, Inc. was awarded a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts for $1795.00. This grant was for a murals project, to create two new murals and for the restoration of the old murals here in Alpine. The first mural was painted for the Alpine Library (pictured below). The second mural actually turned into six separate panels done by children from the Alpine Junior High School for the Alpine Recreation building. Each panel depicts different recreational activities. The original painting on the Crystal Bar was completed over fifteen years ago. It has been restored to a superior quality, much like the original. As a result of this effort several more murals are planned for Alpine.
