The dog days of summer are approaching and downtown Alpine merchants and others are planning a cool Fiesta del Sol June
19th to counter the heat. More than 30 businesses and other entities are expected to take part in the solstice event.
June 18 kick-off: Live
music on the patio at the Holland Hotel by SHILO (7-9:30 p.m.)
followed by Del Castillo at Railroad Blues (starting at 10 p.m.).
June 19:
Following a parade at 11 a.m., festivities, galleries, businesses
and live music with Taste of Big Bend and Fiesta del Sol Marketplace
will take place throughout the day. There will be arts, crafts and
vendors in the TransPecos Banks parking lot, Gallery on the Square,
West Texas National Bank parking lot and along East and West Hwy 90
in the center of town. There will also be a Kiddie Korner with
activities for children at Railroad Park. Taste of Big Bend will
feature restaurants from the tri-county area and there will be live
music throughout the day on the downtown main stage on 6th Street.
Fiesta del Sol is a summer festival
for hometown customers and for special out-of-town visitors, to let them know how much we appreciate them year-round. "It's a great big 'thank-you' party!
